I Profess: the graphic design manifesto exhibition in East Lansing MI (US), July 9 to August 8, 2004.

The poster exhibition Coexistence of the Museum on the Seam in Jersualem has been touring the world since 2001 and has now reached St. Paul MN (US). It is shown in Rice Park June 14 - July 6, 2004. Next stop will be Washington DC, September 15 - October 5, 2004.

Pecados Capitales (Capital sins) is a project in Mexico City with social posters in bus stations, run by Lourdes Zolezzi, Alejandro Magallanes and others, rather more to the point and more explicit than a project with the same name in Fontenay-sous-Bois.

Reklam i rörelse ("Advertising in motion" - A nostalgic travel with posters from the Stockholm Tram Company) is a new book on posters from Sweden. Photos of lots of posters being used by the Stockholm Tram Company. Mainly from the 50s and the 60s. Released in April 2004. (News from Dag Suul).

Awards of the International Biennale of Graphic Design Brno 2004

The deadline for the Bienal Internacional del Cartel en Mexico has been extended from May 30 to June 30, 2004.

All posters from the competition 100 beste Plakate 03 - Deutschland, Oesterreich, Schweiz are now online. Today is the opening of the exhibition at the Stadtbibliothek in Berlin.

The Design Museum in London will have an exhibition on Saul Bass, in particular on his film posters and titles, 17 July to 10 October 2004.

Graphisme en France - 2004 is a brochure and web site on french graphic design, with all kinds of useful information. In the calendar, you find for example that Michal Batory has an exhibition at the Gallery Anatome in Paris in September, Wladyslaw Pluta has a workshop in Toulouse in October, and a short program of the Mois du Graphisme in Echirolles in November.

The Austrian Poster Price 2004 has recently been awarded at the 21. GEWISTA poster party. The jury chose a McDonalds poster for the Platinum award from about 1000 austrian posters and 400 City Light posters, and selected about a dozen more posters for further awards. One of my favorites is a Palmers-Poster for invisible underware! On the other hand, the jury at this year's International Poster Biennale in Warsaw found no commercial poster worthy of a prize. Obviously, some poster continents are drifting apart more and more.

Andrzej Leraczyk's web page on design, www.rzeczy.net, often has articles on posters, for example Jan Mlodozeniec, Shigeo Fukuda, the 20. Brno Biennale and so on. But only in polish!

News from from Anita Kuehnel, curator of the poster collection at the Kunstbibliohek in Berlin: There will be an exhibition on Michael Engelmann (1928 - 1966) who is best known for his posters for the tobacco company Roth-Haendle. The exhibition at the Kunstbibliothek will be from August 13, 2004 until October 24.

Anna Grabowska, the adjunct at the Poster and Design Gallery of the National Museum in Poznan (PL) who is well known for the many excellent poster exhibitions she has curated, will have a new name, starting on June 12, 2004. For more details mail her at Anna Grabowska-Konwent, but not on June 12 !
